“Back to School” Baby Shower
School never seemed so cool!
I’ve been out of school for quite some time. Let’s just say this year will be my high school reunion. You can imagine how thrilled I was to help plan a School Theme baby shower. As we began brainstorming for the party it brought back great memories of my childhood. Here’s a little background on the theme selection: My sister will be having her 3rd baby so rather than go with the typical pink and blue baby shower (not that there’s anything wrong with it) we went for something a bit more unique and personal. Since the mommy-to-be deals with children on a daily basis it just seemed like the perfect theme. You see, my sister Donna owns her on childcare business called Kidz Haven. Isn’t that the cutest name? I always find that the best celebrations are ones that genuinely reflect the guest of honor. The best part about planning this particular shower is that mommy and daddy decided to wait until the baby was born to find out if it’s a boy or girl. This left us with a ton of possibilities!
While searching the internet to find inspiration, I came across my current favorite graphic design team, Anders Ruff Custom Design. They just launched their new website and were offering some of their party printable packages at a whopping $9!!! And to top it off, they had a School Day printable package that was perfect for our little celebration. We used their designs all throughout the shower, starting from the invitations all the way to the small pencil flag details. I only wish we could have used everything in the package. Luckily my sister can use it at her daycare.
Decorations
We had a traditional chalkboard which served as our focal point in the room. To make it fun we wrote, “I will have fun in at this party!” The tables were arranged like a classroom and topped with old books, paper airplanes, paper sunflowers (DIY post on this later), pencils and crayons to use for the games, and wooden alphabet blocks.
Everyone had such a great time! Congratulations Jon & Donna! We’re excited to see the newest addition to the family!
Stay tuned for the dessert table, activities and DIY projects from this great baby shower!
