To celebrate the END of the NBA Lockout, I had to share this Slam Dunk themed dessert table!
I come from a family of diehard Laker fans. At the age of 6, my dad brought me to my very first Laker game. Looking back I should have relished the moments watching Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar lead the Lakers to victory but, truth be told, I was fast asleep by half time. I have no clue why my dad would bring his 6-year-old to watch a game but at least I can say I watched two legendary Hall of Famers in action! Now I’m ready to watch our NBA stars get back on the court and show us what we’ve been missing out on!
Our Slam Dunk dessert table was the centerpiece to a Basketball themed Baby Shower. Like my family, the Dad-to-be is also a basketball fanatic. With his first baby boy on the way, he jumped right on board with our theme. We decided on a modern design using a color palette of orange and baby blue. The table was filled with all the basketball themed goodies you can think of: basketball candy pops, jersey onesies, basketballs, and Jordan basketball shoe shaped cookies just to name a few. My most favorite part of the table were the chocolate Jordan basketball shoes perched on top of orange personalized shoe boxes.
The focal point of the table was the cake which was designed to look like someone made a slam dunk and the basketball smashed into the cake. Who says your dessert table can’t be sweet and funny?
