Cinco De Mayo Party
Last year, Cinco De Mayo landed on a thursday, our weekly bible study day. We thought it would be perfect to celebrate our five May Celebrants on Cinco De Mayo; talk about a coincidence! Who wouldn’t want an excuse for a potluck of delish Mexican dishes? When celebration day arrived, I entered the house after a long days work to find it had been transformed into a fiesta house complete with a pinata! Colorful banners were strewn across the room, moustaches, hats, doilies, and bandanas everywhere. My dear cousin was the mastermind behind all the decor and was quite creative in all the materials she used to bring our house to life. I guess you can say I’ve rubbed off on her. Everyone came with their special dish in hand and filled the table with carne asada tacos, enchiladas, taquitos, stuffed jalapenos, Juan Pollo chicken, nacho chips and various dips to name a few. The best part of the night was our colorful pinata. Since it was indoors, we had my nephew crack it open. Surprisingly, it took several hits to get it open. At one point, after hitting it with all his might, a single piece of candy popped out. The night was filled with good food and great company; what more could you ask for.
The photos speak for themselves. Hopefully our little gathering has inspired you to make the most of any occasion. What are your plans for this years Cinco De Mayo?
