Grace Lightning Mother’s Day Brunch

Looking for a fun and nostalgic Mother’s Day Brunch idea? What about a 50’s diner themed event? That’s exactly what the college women did for our wonderful mother’s at church. They called it, “Grace Lightning”; an appropriately cute play on words. Guests were requested to come in their 50’s attire and let me tell you they did not disappoint! I think some of the grandmothers actually grabbed pieces in their own closets! The hall was decked out with juke box centerpieces, mason jars with flowers, a wall of musical notes, and a diner section which we called “Frosty Palace”.  The food was plated in cafeteria trays filled with mini sliders, french fries and an assortment of fruit to choose from. We even had our own little ice cream sundae bar. If you saw just how loaded those sundaes were it was obvious that none of the mother’s were on a diet that day! The focal point of the room had to be our vintage car photo backdrop. We had to have a special area just for photos with all the women in their nifty fifties attire!

All the women in attendance were truly appreciative of all the details that went into their little brunch. Honestly, all the work that went into this celebration is miniscule in comparison to what all you mother’s do for us everyday! Happy Mother’s Day to all you awesome mommies!
